Birthday spinner card

Whew...finally back..funny how all my posts start that way! But I am so hard pressed for time right now..it's difficult to find time to sit down and write a post.. let alone make a card..
Any way..did find time to do both today..well the card was made in advance and is already on its way to the recipient, and now the blog post follows :).
This was a card for my nephew who just turned 3. He is in India, and as we could not make it for his birthday I thought of sending him a card to make up for our absence. I know..not much but atleast the card was handmade with love :) . Hopefully he likes it.
To make it a bit special, I decided to try my hand at making a spinner card.. After watching so many spinner card videos, I was pretty sure I could make one fairly quick.. Haha how wrong was I !! No such thing as quick in card making..atleast in my world..
Also one thing to note for spinners is that you need mirror image stamps to make one, so that the back and front align nicely. Well my limited stash did not have one..but I really wanted to make a spinner card so I made do with what I had. I had gotten a cupcake stamp set with matching dies at a local craft fair and decided to use that as my spinner image. The good thing about choosing this image was that even though the back and front images were not lining up well when put back to back, it was hardly noticeable. So I stamped the image twice, coloured it using my Finecolour markers (which was their test run by the way) and die cut it with the matching die. Then cut a window in front of my card base, put the spinner together and finished the card by stamping the birthday sentiment using alphabet stamps. The pattern paper I used was from a paper pad I found at my local grocery.. Yes you read it right grocery store :) and got a good deal on that too!

Here is the final card

PS: love the Finecolour markers, but I am going to need a lot of practice to get decent results..

Thanks for stopping by!
Cheers,
